"Devotion, honesty, caring": Goldie Hawn reveals why she and Kurt never married

<p>Goldie Hawn has honoured Kurt Russell on his 72nd birthday after they revealed why they never married.</p> <p>Hawn shared a photo on Instagram of her partner of 40 years.</p> <p>“Happy birthday to the wacky man in my life! I love you baby ❤️, ” she said.</p> <p>Hawn’s son, Oliver Hudson, took to the comments and wrote, “Love this pic!!! Hahahah … Sums up your entire 40 years of togetherness.”</p> <p>The actress’ daughter Kate Hudson also shared an Instagram post dedicated to Russell, her unofficial stepdad.</p> <p>She posted a sweet video of her daughter Rani helping Russell blow out his birthday candle.</p> <p>“Always a double fun day in our family! St Patrick’s day and Pa’s birthday! Love this man so much! How about some birthday love for Kurt! Happy Birthday Pa,” she captioned the video.</p> <p>The birthday wishes come after Russell and Hawn’s recent interview with Variety where one of Hollywood’s longest-standing relationships revealed they were “constantly” asked why they were never married.</p> <p>“We constantly got asked, ‘When are you going to get married? Why aren’t you married?’” Russell told the outlet, referring to the early years of their relationship back in the 80s.</p> <p>“And we were like, ‘Why does anybody care about that?’” he added. “We’d asked our kids if they cared about it. They didn’t. We didn’t.”</p> <p>The pair first met when they appeared in the 1966 comedy, <em>The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band</em>. She was 21 and Russell was 16 at the time. Hawn recalled Russell as being “adorable” but also “much too young” for her to date.</p> <p>The couple got together in 1983 and recently celebrated four decades of partnership on Valentine’s Day 2023.</p> <p>It seems as though the couple’s philosophy on long-standing relationships is to simply not get married.</p> <p>“We have done just perfectly without marrying. I already feel devoted and isn’t that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring, and loving, then we’re fine,” Hawn said in an interview with <em>Woman’s Day</em> in 2007.</p> <p>“We have raised our children brilliantly; they are beautiful people. We did a great job there, and we didn’t have to get married to do that. <p>Kurt Russell has stayed relevant in Hollywood for over four decades. The 66-year-old star is renowned for roles in films such as <em>Overboard, Silkwood</em> and <em>Escape from New York</em>. How he started his climb to fame</strong></p> <p>Kurt was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and is the son of actor Bing Russell and dancer Louise Julia (Crone) Russell. Kurt’s first roles were in television series as a child including the lead role in <em>The Travels of Jamie McPheeters</em>.</p> <p><strong>2. Prestigious awards</strong></p> <p>Kurt was nominated for a Golden Globe in 1984 for best supporting actor in <em>Silkwood</em>. Remake of Overboard in the works

<p>The 80s comedy classic <em>Overboard </em>starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russel is being remade.</p> <p>Anna Faris will star in this remake with Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez. </p> <p>This film will have a gender-reversal of character roles, meaning Faris will play Kurt Russell’s character.</p> <p>The film will follow a spoiled Mexican playboy who is from an extremely wealthy family.</p> <p>Eugenio’s character will fall off a yacht and then get amnesia and Faris’ character will be a single mum who convinces the playboy that they are married.</p> <p>MGM boss Jonathan Glickman said, “The original <em>Overboard</em> was beloved and the only way to bring it back is to reinvent the story in a whole new way. Goldie Hawn’s secret to a long lasting relationship

<p>It’s been a big month for Hollywood splits with the announcement of the shock divorce of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, followed by that of Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber.</p> <p>But just when you think that true love has no hope, actress Goldie Hawn, who has been with her partner Kurt Russell for 33 years, has shared what she believes to be the secret to a couple staying together for a long period of time. And it’s not marriage!</p> <p>Speaking on Britain’s ITV Loose Women, the 70-year-old actress stated she believes the key to relationship success is freedom and never actually tying the knot.</p> <p>When asked about her position, Hawn stated, “I would have been long divorced if I got married. If you need to be bound to someone, then it’s important to be married,’ she added. ‘If you are independent, then it’s important to not be married.”</p> <p>Hawn added, “What is marriage going to do for us? At the beginning, you want to see each other all the time. Then you get jealous when they’re gone too long and that’s exciting. Princess Diana once hid out at Kurt Russell’s home to escape paparazzi

<p>During her short lifetime, Princess Diana was constantly hounded by the paparazzi. As we’re all too aware of now, this harassment caused her a great deal of stress, but what has only been recently made public knowledge, Diana would frequently hide out in Kurt Russell’s Colorado home.</p> <p>At the royal premiere of Backdraft in London in 1991, Diana confided in Kurt about how difficult the paparazzi had become. Kurt offered up his 70-acre estate he shares with Goldie Hawn so that Princess Diana and her sons, William and Harry, could have "a nice getaway."</p> <p><img width="280" height="414" src="https://oversixtydev.blob.core.windows.net/media/14347/kurt-russel-and-diana_280x414.jpg" alt="Kurt Russel And Diana" style="float: left;"/></p> <p>During an appearance on<em> The Late Late Show</em> earlier this month, Kurt spoke about how he and Hawn wound up lending their home to Princess Diana in 1995.</p> <p>"Years later [Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson], who Goldie knows, worked it out," Kurt said. Hateful Eight premiere proof actors get better with age

<p>If the crowd at premiere of <em>The Hateful Eight</em> in Sydney last night was anything to go by, it proves that although Kurt Russell and Samuel L. Jackson may be in their twilight years they just keep getting better with age.</p> <p>The pair flew into Sydney from Los Angeles to attend the event, along with the film’s director Quentin Tarantino.</p> <p>Fans were cueing from 2pm for a chance to lay eyes on the stars.</p> <p>Kurt Russel, 64, and Samuel L. Jackson, 67, made plenty of time for adoring fans at the event as they slowly made their way down the red carpet and greeted media and fans alongs the way. </p> <p>Heard swearing and entertaining the audience at the film screening, Samuel L. Jackson also told <em>The Daily Telegraph</em> The Hateful Eight was equal to Tarantino’s other works, “It’s a masterpiece, but it’s just one of his many masterpieces. We have a lot of fun on set. Quentin doesn’t allow any cell phones or anything with an off switch on set, so we talk and laugh and sing.”</p> <p>Kurt Russel and Samuel L. Jackson are stalwarts in Tarantino films with the former appearing in <em>Death Proof</em> and the latter appearing in <em>Pulp Fiction</em>, <em>Jackie Brown</em>, <em>Kill Bill</em> and <em>Inglourious Basterds</em>.</p> <p><em>The Hateful Eight</em> revolves around the story of a group of strangers isolated in stagecoach stopover.
